Men’s Center, Selma

Director, Rev. Emlen Bailey

Words from our Director

I graduated from Alabama Adult and Teen Challenge in 2012. The road that brought me there was filled with addiction, jails, and rehabs. I started using drugs at the age of 11 and by the start of high school I was a full-blown addict. At the age of 25 I was arrested in Baldwin County Alabama for possession of a controlled substance. I was placed on Drug Court, only I could not stop using. My addiction to prescription pain medication and heroin consumed me and I failed 12 drug tests in a 1.5 year timeline. After my last failed drug test, I was held in the county jail for 4 months. One morning I was called to court unexpectedly. The judge told me that I could either go to prison immediately, or I could have one more chance and go to Teen Challenge. I had been to rehabs before with no results, but I did not want to go to prison. So I agreed to attend Teen Challenge.

While I was there, I was introduced to Jesus and radically changed.

Since my time at Teen Challenge, I have had the opportunity to go to Asia on 3 short term mission trips in 5 countries. I graduated from Christ for The Nations Bible College in 2016 and shortly after met my lovely wife, Charlotte Bailey. We were married in 2017 and served as Associate Pastors at a church in Dallas Texas for almost 5 years. In 2021, we followed the call of God and packed up our family and moved to Alabama to serve as Directors of the Selma Men’s Center. God has truly blessed me and my family. I am so grateful that he set me free from Sin and Death. I celebrated 11 years clean this past February of 2022. God is Great!
