At Alabama Adult & Teen Challenge, our mission has never been confined to the walls of our residential centers. While our 12-month, Christ-centered recovery program is where deep transformation happens, the journey toward hope often begins long before someone walks through our doors.
That's why we go out.
Every week, our team steps into churches, schools, and local events across Alabama with one purpose: to meet people where they are and make hope visible, tangible, and within reach.
Meeting People Where They Are
Addiction doesn't wait for someone to seek help. It shows up in homes, classrooms, workplaces, and communities. Many who are struggling never take the first step toward recovery on their own.
In fact, a large percentage of those battling addiction aren't actively looking for help.
So we bring the message to them.
Whether it's a Sunday morning church service, a school assembly, or a community gathering, Alabama Adult & Teen Challenge creates opportunities for people to hear real stories of transformation and learn that freedom is possible.
The Power of Testimony
One of the most impactful parts of our outreach is the sharing of personal testimonies.
Men and women who have walked through addiction and experienced life change stand in front of audiences and speak openly about where they've been, what they've lost, and how God restored their lives.
These aren't polished speeches. They are real, honest, and often deeply emotional moments that resonate with people in ways statistics never could.
For someone sitting in that room silently struggling, it can be the first time they think: "If it worked for them... maybe it could work for me."
Partnering with Churches
Churches play a vital role in our outreach efforts.
We partner with congregations across the state not only to share about the program, but to equip churches to recognize and respond to addiction within their own communities.
Through these partnerships, churches become more than places of worship. They become places of restoration, support, and connection.
Many individuals who enter our program are first introduced to Alabama Adult & Teen Challenge through a local church that invited us to speak.
Reaching the Next Generation in Schools
Prevention matters.
When we step into schools, we're not just talking about addiction — we're talking about identity, choices, and the real-life consequences of decisions.
Students hear firsthand accounts from individuals who once sat where they sit now, facing similar pressures and struggles.
These moments plant seeds.
They create awareness, spark conversations, and sometimes redirect a life before addiction ever takes hold.
Showing Up in the Community
From local events to outreach gatherings, Alabama Adult & Teen Challenge is committed to being present wherever people are.
Events like banquets, revival gatherings, and community initiatives create spaces where people can connect with our mission, hear powerful stories, and discover ways to get involved.
These aren't just events. They are entry points for transformation.
More Than a Program — A Lifeline
Alabama Adult & Teen Challenge is more than a residential recovery program. It's a statewide effort to bring hope to individuals and families who feel stuck, broken, or forgotten.
For over 50 years, we've been committed to doing whatever it takes to place hope within reach.
And that means going beyond our campuses. It means showing up in churches, speaking into schools, and standing in communities with a message that never changes:
Freedom is possible. Restoration is real. And no one is too far gone for a new beginning.
